Mark Johnson

University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication
Senior Lecturer of Photojournalism
Athens, Ga.
I've been telling stories since I was a child. My dad was a teacher (calculus, which never helped me) and taught me the value of simple, straightforward storytelling involving complex situations. After a dozen years in the news industry, I stumbled into teaching a decade ago.

At the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, I teach all of the photojournalism courses that make up our Visual Journalism emphasis and also oversee our workshops, digital literacy initiatives and information technology committees while serving on the college's "programmatic visioning" committee and a university-wide technology technology group. What's that mean? I'm a geek. But I'm a geek who doesn't want to talk tech over the cheese dip, I want to talk about how to use it or, more importantly, how to help others learn to use it.

Let's chat ...
